Damn.... that's all I have to say... damn...
To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.-Theodore Roosevelt, The Kansas City Star, May 7, 1918 |

Musician Jeff Healey dies of cancer Jack Spearman and Jessey Bird Canwest News Service Monday, March 03, 2008 CREDIT: Peter Redman for National Post Musician and broadcaster Jeff Healey talking about his life with retinoblastoma at his Toronto home December 20 2005. The cancer caused his blindness from infancy. Guitar wizard Norman Jeff Healey of Toronto died Sunday of cancer. He was 41. Healey was considered a prodigy and earned numerous Juno and Grammy nominations in the course of his career. He lost both his eyes to retinoblastoma before he was eight-months-old, but never let that slow him down. "What we've lost is a virtuoso musician," said Richard Flohil, Healey's publicist. "He followed his own passion, which oddly enough was not playing blues rock music, but playing classic rock jazz. "He just cancelled a concert a few days ago in Nepean (Ont.) and we made this very kind of bland, not-to-worry statement," said Flohil. "At that point, we didn't want to say that Jeff was basically dying, although we all knew he was." The Canadian blues and jazz great died in a Toronto hospital Sunday evening after a lifelong battle with cancer. Wow I am STUNNED. I saw Jeff Healy open for Bonni Raitt some years ago and he played a smokin' show topped of with his version of John Hiatt's
'Angel Eyes'. Man he was great one of the 1st times I saw someone play and became in instant fan. Wow this is just such shitty news on a shitty day
overall. man o man.
When in doubt, twirl.

I know -- Jeff was one of the greats, and I was a huge, huge fan. Long ago I posted links to a bunch of his video clips in here, including some in which he was
jamming with SRV... many commented on how good those clips were... when I'm no my other 'puter, I'll post 'em again... this one needs to have
Java u pgraded... the posting window on this browser lacks most features...
There should be a Blues Heaven somewhere, and it has to be a helluva place... I read about it today as well and was devastated. Jeff Healey was incredible. My absolute favorite version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps is done by him.
Saw him twice, he just rocked it both times.
