Always very exciting, even if you know very little about racing horses. Used to be an annual KD party here on Cape Ann, always lots of fun.Thinking of those old friends, who used to be based in Rockport, where they'd grown up and gone to local schools, and then on to higher education and careers. Also for you newcomers to the world of race horses, check out the amazing true story, of the famous Race Horse, "Phar Lap," thought by many to still be the greatest race horse of all time. whose beginings included nearly being sent to the meat factory after failing to win some important races in New Zealand and Austraila. As he was being lowered to a wharf closest to the meat factory, a horse trainer heard of his plight, and paid a few pounds for him, later leading him to so many victories that he upset the horse racing world, of the 1920's and 30's which included the gambling world of his era, eventually leading to his poisonous death.
