Cops find party time for Man/Esx seniors..do nothing! |
Lead | |

So skipping school and drinking in the Chebacco Woods by 20 Manchester Essex seniors does not warrant a police report? Drinking in the daytime in a public
place by underage students and no report? No nothing? I guess laws don't mean anything to the police.

Don't you know Manchester Essex students are above that kind of thing. It only goes on in Gloucester. Ask their parents.

What did they actually do? No report is one thing, no action is another.

I know NOBODY here EVER drank or partied in the local woods.
When in doubt, twirl.

It happened in Hamilton, which is why there is no police report in the GDT.

it's on the front page of the GDT

I know, but there was no police report.

Mr Zanny & I laughed about this...
We were wondering how many Keg Parties in the Woods we attended, in either Manchester, or Essex or Hamilton, or Wenham, while we were in HS, and how many times the cops came, and told us to go home, and took our beer... We were never arrested.. We were all... Oooohh Big News... There was a Keg Party in the Woods... and a Senior Skip Day.. |

and if they were all arrested everyone would be saying "why the overreaction?" "They were just being kids" "They weren't hurting
anyone" "what harm was done, they weren't vandalizing things" "don't the cops have anything better to do"
you just can't win.
"All of this could be yours... just give me what I want and nobody gets hurt"

Yup. I'm all for the cops dealing with many things with an overload of common sense. There are ways besides arresting kids to get the point across.
Arresting them should be a last resort unless some significant harm or risk was involved. Kids have been doing this since forever. The vast majority survive
just fine.

BUT.....the parents should ground them for life.

We got away with all kinds of mayhem in Hamilton/Wenham back in the day. The cops were scared of us on weekend nights, 100 to 200 strong, they would drift by
and we'd all behave momentarily. They'd pull away and we'd all cheer like drunken shipmates.

Sounds like a typical HS party, Brain...
But now there are different cops in town.... It's not like Smitty is going to come and have a drink with the kids anymore |

VR-
we just used to get told to go on home, then the cops would take our beer, and go drink later, when they got off duty, of course... there were whispers of some of them inviting teens over to drink as well... |

I thought drinking under the age of 21 was illegal. I thought drinking and driving was illegal as well. I thought the police were supposed to enforce the law. I thought parents would not encourage their children to break the law. Apparently, I'm wrong. So we pay Night and company to do what? Oh yeah, HOLE DETAILS! |
