Select your preference and then tell us why. Is it the quality of the produce or fish? The cleanliness of the store? That hot checkout girl/guy? Nearness to your home? Prices (ha!)? Is it S&S's perceived more-progressive attitude toward its employees? Rather than split the Shaw's vote, I have only a single Shaw's enter -- no separate choice for Ghetto Shaws or Eastern Ave. Shaws. If you prefer one over the other, feel free to mention why... Because I try to stick to a low-carb diet there are a few items I have come to rely on and only Stop and Shop carries them --- like When Pigs Fly Lo-Carb Whole Grain Bread. Also, on several of the products I buy regularly, S&S has a lower price --- bottled lemon juice, Twinings Peach Black Tea, romaine hearts 3-pack, Smart Balance Light. All of those are 10 cents or more higher at Shaw's. I suppose it depends on what things you buy regularly... But I also do Stop & Shop via Peapod which I think it about the best thing since sliced bread! What a great service. Also find the service there much better. I don't really find any significant price differences between the two on what I buy. Guess it really boils down to what you buy and just personal preference. Also, I believe S&S employees are union and like to support people getting a living wage. I believe it shows in how they trat the customer. Shaw's grosses me out these days. Too many flat screen tv's screaming at me as I shop. However, I do prefer their produce section for some reason - more options maybe.

It is downtown near my home and I know a lot of the kids who work there and they are always very polite, etc. I don't think there is much difference in price at either store, both are outrageous. I will go to Stop & Shop if there is something I want on sale, but the place is so big it gives me a headache just thinking about it. I usually use the self checkout, which also gives me a headache, they want you to bag your groceries while you are still checking out, the belt stops and won't start again until you remove everything, but I always have stuff left in my cart, it is too confusing for me. But one thing, Stop & Shop always smells like fish near the fish counter. I never smell fish in either Shaws'. We all know if you can smell fish it is not fresh.

It's cold pressed and made from greek olives - most are made from spanish olives these days - not as tasty. It's outstanding and well priced. I buy it in the big metal tin. It's pretty much all I use.
