If you like to read or not - name the author. When you answer correctly then add your book title for the next person to figure out. Make it EASY or HARD. Try......and keep it going. I'm trying to be positive here. This is getting oh so hard for me!

Brain, Is your "A Call to Arms" author Robt. Sheckly like Realist said or is it by John Welcome or neither?
Realist, Is your answer to "The Music of Dolphins" by Karen Hesse? Nobody answered for "Stones of Summer" yet.....but it's a start. |

Yes - Karen Hesse
Don't know full name of author of "Stones of Summer" - Dow ?? Here's an easy one: "Into Thin Air" Don't walk in front of me, I don't follow. Don't walk behind
me, I don't lead.

Yup | ||
|
Realist, Yes, "The Stones of Summer" is by Dow Mossman.
"Into Thin Air" by John Kraukauer (sp?)...loved it BTW. How about 1) "Birdsong", 2) "Mein Kampf"(ha!), and 3) "Papillion"(sp?) that ought to keep someone busy cause I gotta go nighty night.

On the side - try "Into the Wild" by Jon Krakauer. Movie also excellent, surprisingly...

Well, I've read two of Mothership's three.
Sebastian Faulks; Hitler; Henri Charriere Birdsong was overrated. Barbarossa.

North with the Spring... To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.-Theodore Roosevelt, The Kansas City Star, May 7, 1918 |

for a little while, the twilight of the gods and of us.

Gypsy wrote: I collect his books, and have original editions of the entire American Seasons series. I have visited most of the places he visited in North With the
Spring (and many of his other books, too), and even considered preparing a book proposal to retrace his route for the 50th anniversary of NWTS's
publication. Never finished it. But, boy, do I have a wealth of material on his travels
I have rooted through his archive at the UConn library, too... all his maps from his travels are there. Fascinating stuff.

My Dad LOVED his work and had quite a few of his books which I imagine were originals since he bought them back in the Fifties. He read parts of those books to
us when we were kids.
I bet those books are still in his house. I'll have to ask my brother to find them and save them for me --- along with all the Foxfire books which Dad also collected.
