The Rockport Band at Rockport Harvest Festival |
Lead | |
|
The Rockport Legion Band will be appearing at Rockport's annual Harvest Festival at 2:00 on Saturday, October 18th, on the lawn of the Congregational
Church. The church is located at the corner of Main and School Streets, in downtown Rockport. In this time of financial crisis, it's nice to have an
afternoon of free, family entertainment. We hope to see all of you there.

Good link, but it does not explain for those of us who do not know things such as:
Where is Sea Fencibles Park Where is Barletta Park What or who is Sorrelanza (muscian? artist? band? type of music played? magician?.....) What or who is Chelsea Berry (muscian? artist? band? type of music played? magician?.....) What or who is Kimberly Genereux (muscian? artist? band? type of music played? magician?.....) |

That's the beauty of an event like this, Frosty -- you discover things you've never thought about! (Although , as The Shadow once said: "Who knows
what evil lurks in the minds of men"?)
Speaking of THE Band (Rockport Legion, that is), they'll be presenting movie music, marches (including Col. Bogey!), Broadway tunes (Sondheim rules), Beatle tunes, and at least one unusual pop tune from 1913. Throw in a couple of classical gems (Elgar is alive and well, well, his music , at least), polkas and swing music, and you'll have an hour or so of music for every one. Come join us at 2:00 tomorrow. Frosty -- the Congregational Church lawn is on the corner of Main and School Streets, right across the street from the proposed Rockport Music Center (yet to be built -- also known as the Haskins Building, soon to disappear). Also for Frosty -- Barletta Park is on Dock Square (intersection of Rte. 127A and Main Street) and Sea Fencibles is also close by Dock Square -- just follow your ears!). |

Anyone have any details on the visits to the USS Hall? Tour? Time frame?

Tours leave from T Wharf, from 10 - 5 Saturday and Sunday, according to the GD Times.

Eve --
Come introduce yourself when you get there tomorrow. I like to meet people (who post on the board) in person -- most of the time they are waaaaaaaaaay better in person than they are on the board. Be careful though, that you don't get snagged by the other conductor. He'll be holding a trumpet. |

Will do.

Just returned from the Country Club and the evening for the sailors. We had a great time, tons of food and music. The sailors are very impressed with Rockport,
the Town and the people. If you see any around Town, stop and chat.

We were out earlier and encountered a sailor walking around. Friendly.

Excellent concert! What a great day for it despite the cooler temps which must have challenged fingers and lips!

No tours today of the ship, too rough. The ship is quite possibly going to Gloucester Harbor tonight and tours will be given in Gloucester tomorrow.

some pictures around the festival....... | ||
Have to say it was a tad unsettling to see a 445' destroyer in the harbor......LOL
The Legion Band was fantastic as always! Kudos to Steve and the band!
Pretty good crowds out there enjoying the day..... \
Bwahahahahahahahaaaa! Leslie, you rock!
The Greenery's display.....
Willoughby's got my vote for the most creative....bird lady is very, very cool!
Loved this one for obvious reasons......heh.....
We know this guy......
It was a definite challenge getting the hayride around the Neck with the crowds....loads of fun stuff for kids and plenty of them in costume.

Mazzie, there were people out there hoping, but it sure did look pretty rough and after reading the warning sign about being able to climb steep ladders and
all the exclusions of who shouldn't try the tour, I'd say it would be more of an adventure than I'd do on a day like this.

The ship has gone to Gloucester harbor, just inside the breakwater. Last night about 40 sailors slept in the police station and yacht club because conditions
were too dangerous to return them. No tours of the ship planned at all.

That's really too bad. New England weather.....but the sailors we talked to today love our weather and hate their FL home port. LOL

Whoa! It's blowing up pretty good out there today. Wonder if everybody made it back to the ship last night.
